Many juice shops, grocery smoothie bars and smoothie recipes are loaded with sugar, specifically fructose sugar from excess fruit. Instead of loading up your smoothie with fruit, try the Fab 4 Smoothie formula, coined by nutritionist Kelly Leveque.
The Fab 4 ingredients are: protein, fiber, fat, and greens. To get even more specific, the average serving of each is as follows per Kelly’s new book, Body Love: 20g minimum of protein, 10g minimum of fiber, one tablespoon of fat, and a handful of greens mixed with liquid – preferably water or an unsweetened nut milk.
